Ronald C. “Ron” Retzer, 74, passed away at 9:05am on Friday, October 19, 2018, at his residence.
He was born on August 11, 1944, in Tucson, Arizona, the son of the late Harry and Reba (Davis) Retzer. He married the former Barbara Anthony on May 2, 1964, in Roxana, and she survives.
Other survivors include one daughter: Shelley Forsythe of Wood River, one son: Ronnie Retzer of Alton, four grandchildren: Casey Starbuck and her husband: Craig, Haley Stamper and her husband: Matt, Drew Retzer, Emily Retzer, two great grandchildren: Ava Starbuck and Callum Starbuck.
Ron formerly owned and operated Ron Retzer Construction where he built several area homes. He then went on to work through the Carpenters Local 377 in Wood River. He enjoyed boating.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a great grandson: Gabriel “Gabe” Starbuck.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A celebration of life will be held at 1pm on Sunday, November 4, 2018, at the Elsah Township Community Building, 14690 Fessler Road, Dow, Illinois, 62022.
