Rolla Patrick Rulo, 88, formerly of Grafton, died at 10:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 25, 2012at his residence.He was born in Old Mines, Mo. on Aug. 23, 1923, and was the son of the late Leo C. & Josephine (Yarborough) Rulo.A former member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Grafton, Rolla was an active volunteer for the annual picnic and bingo. He was currently a member of the Grafton Full Gospel Church and was instrumental in its formation.He retired from the American Water Company in Alton as a lab technician, and was a member of the Operating Engineers Local.He first married Blanche C. DeClue on Dec. 12, 1941 in Potosi, Mo., and together they shared nearly 40 years together before her death on May 5, 1981, and were the parents of 13 children. He then married Katherine Vanover on May 25, 1982 in Peoria, and they were married for just a short time before her death on Aug. 27, 1987. He then married Judith Meyer on March 25, 1994 at the Grafton Full Gospel Church, and together they have enjoyed 18 years together.In addition to his wife, surviving are three daughters & sons in law, Betty & Jerry Howard of East Alton, Charlene Carpenter of Alton, and Sharon Lyons of Grafton; six sons & daughters in law, Rollen & Shirley Rulo of Grafton, Joseph & Brenda Rulo of Elsah, Ronald & Kathy Rulo, Richard & Cheryl Rulo, Terry & Ellen Rulo, and Jerry & Paula Rulo all of Grafton; a daughter in law, Dottie Rulo of Godfrey; a step daughter & her husband, Vickie Lynn & Mark Felt of Commerce City, Mi.; 22 Grandchildren; two step grandchildren; numerous great and great great grandchildren; three brothers, Bill Rulo of Wood River, George Rulo and Charles Rulo both of St. Clair, Mo.; two sisters, Margie Roderick of Sullivan, Mo., and Theresa Urban of Peoria.In addition to his parents and two wives, Rolla was preceded in death by three sons, Roy Junior Rulo, Kenneth Rulo, and and infant son, David M. Rulo; a daughter, Mary C. Rulo; a step daughter, Penny Sue Eaton; two sons in law, Rex Carpenter & Edward Lyons; two great grandchildren, Joshua Monroe & Ella Dickson; a great great granddaughter, Hailey Monroe; and three sisters, Ethel Spires, Louise Courtoise, and Myrtle Tedrick.Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Grafton Full Gospel Church with Rev. Sam Williams officiating.Burial will be in the Scenic Hill Cemetery in Grafton.Memorials may be given to the Grafton Full Gospel Church in care of the funeral home
