Roger Hoffard

Roger Hoffard, 56, of Alton, passed away Friday, April 27, 2018 at 5:31 am at his home.He was born December 30, 1961, to Gene and Dorothy Hoffard.  On Februrary 19, 1988 in Las Vegas he married Kathleen “Kathy” Bruce. She survives.Roger was an Owner of the Roger Hoffard Mowing, Gardening and Lawn Care for many years.  He enjoyed competing in BBQ competitions, most recently winning the Washington Pork competition in Washington, MO.  He was a member of the KCBS BBQ Society and loved car shows and old cars.  He also enjoyed spending time with his favorite cats, Gizzy, who just passed away, and Sissy. In his earlier years he enjoyed fishing in tournaments, motorcycle racing, and racing horses. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Kathy Hoffard of Alton; a brother, Rodney Hoffard, a sister, Regina wade; a sister-in-law, Diana Loveless (Dale) of Park hills, MO; and several nieces, nephews and loving friends. Roger is preceded in death by his parents.Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded.A Visitation will be held Thursday May 3, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 pm at the Elias Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton. A Celebration of Life service will be held following the visitation Thursday at 7:00 pm. Burial will take place at a later date.Memorial donations can be given to The American heart Association or the 5A’s Humane Society in Godfrey, IL. Online condolences may be made at www.eliaskallalandschaaf.com
