Rodney P. Smith, 59, passed away at 2:15am on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at his residence with his loving family by his side. He was born on September 24, 1957, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Bonnie (Routh) Smith of St. Louis and the late Nova Smith. In addition to his mother, in survived by his longtime companion: Linda Morrison of Wood River, his sister: Denise and Steve Olson of St. Louis, Missouri, two brothers and sisters in law: Barry and Christine Smith of St. Louis, Bradley and Christina Smith of St. Louis, and many nieces and nephews.
Rodney was formerly employed at American Steel in Granite City as a welder. He was a member of Maplewood Baptist Church in Maplewood, Missouri. He enjoyed working on cars and small engines.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 5pm to 9pm on Monday, March 6, 2017, at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Funeral services will be held at 10am on Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at the funeral home. Pastor Dan Smith will officiate. Burial will follow at Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana.
Memorials are suggested to the Lupus Foundation and will be accepted at the funeral home.
