He was born on January 6, 1954 in Alton, IL, the son of Earl R. and Wanda L. (Ramey) Forsythe.
Rodney was employed at the Olin Corp. for 34 years finishing his career as a General Forman at their Winchester Corp., Mississippi plant. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto. He enjoyed driving, fishing, hunting, especially ducks and loved to spend time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Nicole & Joe Roderick of Godfrey; five brothers, sisters and their spouses, Darrell Forsythe of Bethalto, Carolyn & David Mueggenburg of Alton, Richard & Carol J. Forsythe of Fosterburg, Cindy & Kevin Taylor of Moro and Mindy & Tim Beck of KY; a maternal grandmother, Jessie Ramey of KY; thirteen nieces and nephews, Darrell Jr., Tracy, Michelle, D.E., Amanda, Jamey, Tim, Paul Jr., Zach, Sarah, Jacob, Chelsea and Emily; a special friend, Kay Nelson of Oxford, MS; his family pet "Pixie" a T Cup Maltese and several great nieces, nephews and multiple friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one niece Shelly Forsythe.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto, with Pastor Mark Hofferber officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.
Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
