Robert W Bretz, 56, of Alton, Illinois died on October29, 2012 at his home.
Bob, was born on January 18, 1956 in Oakley, Kansas to Samuel L Bretz and Alice (Brant) Bretz.
He received a Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture from Kansas State University in 1981.
He married Brenda J Schilling on April 28, 1984 in Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Seward, Kansas.
Bob worked for the Parkway School District in St. Louis for 18 years in the Facilities Department.
Bob had a love of plants and gardening, always had a building project underway and was an avid Kansas State fan.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Sam and Alice, father-in-law Homer Schilling and nephew Brian Secrease.
Survived by his wife Brenda Schilling; sister Pamela S Secrease and husband Mike, Ponchatoula, Louisiana, brother John J Bretz and wife Jeannine, Alton, Illinois; mother-in-law Rita Schilling, Seward, Kansas; sister-in-laws Susan Schilling (Bob Huerter), Larned, Kansas, Barbara Schilling, Lawrence, Kansas, Linda (David) Neeland, Radium, Debbie (Scott) Purrington, Murfreesboro, Tennessee; 13 nieces and nephews and 5 great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm Tuesday October 30, 2012 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton.
Burial will be at Eden Valley Cemetery in Stafford County, Kansas.
Memorials may be made to 5-As, Alton Area Animal Aid Association or any no-kill animal shelter of your choosing
