Robert Slemer

Robert “Robbie” Slemer, 77, of Glen Carbon, Illinois passed away Saturday, April 13, 2024.  He was born on July 11, 1946, a son of the late Rudolph and Catherine Slemer.  He served in the Army Reserves after graduating high school.  Robert worked as a bricklayer from 1966 until 2009 when he retired from US Steel. He belonged to the International Bricklayers Association and a was member of Local number 8. He married Cynthia (Donaldson) whom he loved and adored. She still survives. He and Cindy were married for 56 years.

They cherished their time with their two daughters;  Julie and her husband Pete, Stephanie and her husband Mark and their eight grand children, Payton, Warner, Max, Mason, Elle, Marlo, Monét and Monroe. He is also survived by sister, Mary Ann Moad and three brothers Ronald, Stan and Steve and their spouses.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Rudolph Jr. He enjoyed fishing, lending his craftsmanship skills to help others and the company of many friends. Bob was proud of his heritage and being from Glen Carbon.  The special bond he shared with his grandchildren will always be treasured. He was loved dearly and will be incredibly missed.

A visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon on Monday, April 22, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
