Robert "Rob" Wayne Simmons, 58, of Cottage Hills, passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at St. Louis University Hospital.
He was born on April 22, 1967, in Alton, IL, the son of Robert G. and Donna J. (George) Simmons. Rob married Sarah Long in Edwardsville on October 8, 2005.
Rob was a member of House of Victory in Cottage Hills. He was a member of the Cottage Hills Fire Department for 30 years, serving as chief for 20 of them. He was also a member of MADCO Fireman's Association, several biker clubs in the area, Camp IAMME, and was an arson investigator for several years. Rob was very proud of his Scottish Heritage and loved the Celtic traditions. He enjoyed doing things for others, having fun, hosting events, DJing, meeting new people, history, music, and spending time with his friends and family.
Along with his parents Robert and Donna of Naples, FL, and wife, Sarah, he is survived by his children, Whitley (Chad) Scott of Bethalto, Sawyer Simmons of Bethalto, Sidney (Cody) Cooper of Bethalto, and Bethanie (Zachary) Brundeen of Cottage Hills; a sister, Vickie (Chris) Morgan of Naples, FL; nine grandchildren, McKenna, Connor, Caroline, Rylee, Ronin, Waylon, Presley, Carter, and Sutter; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Glen Simmons, Rosie Simmons, James and Ruth George; and two cousins, Philip Smith, and John Simmons.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 4, 2026, from 1 to 5 pm, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Funeral services will be on Monday, January 5, 2026, at 10 am, at the funeral home. Pastor Tim Naylor will officiate.
