ROBERT HIGGINS
JERSEYVILLE – Robert Michael “Rob” Higgins, 55, died suddenly Friday, April 14, 2017 at his home in Jerseyville.
He was born on January 28, 1962, in Alton to the late Robert Louis & Mary Elizabeth (Simpson) Higgins.
Rob grew up in Godfrey and was a graduate of Alton High School and learned from a young age the value of hard work and integrity working for his father in the family business.
Life would eventually bring Rob to Jerseyville, where he continued the legacy of his father by starting his own line of companies, all within the contracting and paving industries. It was also during this time that he met and married the former Lisa Roundcount on June 10, 2004 in Jerseyville and together their marriage was blessed with two children.
Outside of work, Rob was actively involved in local politics and enjoyed discussing his views with others.
It was the title of “Dad”, however, that he was most proud of and he relished in the time spent with his children.
Surviving are three children, Eden Lantz of Cahuita, Costa Rica and John & Mary Higgins, both of Jerseyville; a sister, Suzanne Harris of Godfrey; as well as his former wife, Lisa Roundcount Higgins of Jerseyville, with whom he maintained a close relationship and strong family unit.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Patrick Higgins and a sister in infancy, Mary Higgins.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Tuesday with Father Patrick Gibbons officiating. Burial will take place alongside his mother and father at the St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Godfrey.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the family in care of the funeral home.
