Robert Dean Mathias, 71, of Granite City, Illinois, passed away at 12:02 a.m. on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City.
He was born on January 18, 1954, in Granite City, the son of the late Harry and Imogene (Rice) Mathias. On July 18, 2009, he married the love of his life, Vicky B. (Colp) Mathias in Granite City, and she survives.
Robert retired from S&S Pallet in Madison after over 20 years of dedicated service as a truck driver. He was a proud member of the Granite City Eagles Aerie #1126 and an avid pool player who participated in many leagues throughout the years. A talented musician, Robert was known for his love of playing instruments, especially guitar, and for his singing. He will be fondly remembered for his devotion to his family and the cherished moments spent with his grandchildren.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by four children and spouses, Lois (James) Kellermann of Hoffman, Illinois, William “David” (Theresa) Colp of Cedar Hill, Missouri, Nick Wilson of Arnold, Missouri and Robert (Molly) Mathias of Edmond, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren, Sean Kellermann, Tara Kellermann, Faith Colp, Ian Mathias, Evan Schnefke, Brody Wilson, Trevor Wilson, Aidan Colp and Blake Colp; a sister and brother-in-law, Linda (Roy) Vaughn of Nevada; nieces and nephews; other extended family and friends.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, on Sunday, August 17, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 18, 2025. Reverend Mark Maynard will officiate.
