Robert L. Brantley, 80, died at 5:27 a.m. Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville. Born April 1, 1934 in St. Louis, MO, he was the son of Albert and Margaret (Meiller) Brantley. Mr. Brantley enjoyed playing cards and golf and was a Cardinal Baseball fan. He retired in 1995 as a district manager for Dolly Madison after 34 years of service. On June 20, 1953 he married the former Marie J. Steinbruegge. She preceded him in death on June 1, 2009.
Surviving is a daughter, Sharon Figura (Fred) of Troy, MO, five sons, Michael Brantley (Theresa) of Houston, TX, Daniel Brantley (Linda) of Edwardsville, Stephen Brantley (Judy) of Alton, Kirk Brantley (Debbie) of Santa Ana, CA, and David Brantley (Dana) of Godfrey, 18 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, a brother, Ronnie Brantley (Ruth) of Arnold, and a sister, Helen Waing (Joe) of Florissant, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and two brothers, Charles and Leroy Brantley.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, May 12, 2014 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Memorials may be made to the Junior Diabetes Research Fund.
