Robert L. "Bob" Diveley, 74, passed away at 12:54pm on Friday, August 3, 2012, at St. Anthony's Hospital in Alton. He was born on July 19, 1938, in Roxana, Illinois the son of the late Jesse and Doretha (Ratliff) Diveley. He married the former Judith Ann Swinney on October 10, 1959, in Corinth, Mississippi and she preceded him in death on February 9, 2012. Survivors include three daughters and two sons in law: Jennifer and Jim Smith of Roxana, Sally and Tim Mauzy of Eureka, Missouri, Ellen Shea and her fiance': Tom Brewer of Hazelwood, Missouri, one son and daughter in law: Robert Glen and Dawn Diveley of Roxana, five grandchildren: Mathew Smith, Emily Pechacek and her husband: Adam, Jessica Smith, Ashley Cox and her husband: Phil, Andrea Huber and her husband: Dave, one great grandson: Logan Cox, one great granddaughter: Kali Pechacek, and many nieces and nephews.
He was formerly employed at Laclede Steel in the personnel department. He was veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed performing ragtime piano and was a member of several Dixieland Jazz Bands.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and two brothers: William "Bill" Diveley and Donald "Bud" Diveley.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be from 4pm to 8pm on Sunday, August 5, 2012 at Pitchford Funeral Home in Wood River. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Monday, August 6, 2012, at the funeral home. Rev. Mike Stark and Rev. Roy Gibbs will officiate. Burial will follow at Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana.
Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church of Roxana and will be accepted at the funeral home.
