Robert Parker

Robert Joseph Parker (Bobby Joe), 61, entered into internal restful peace with the Lord on Wednesday, January 20, 2016.

He was born in Alton, IL on June 19, 1955 the son of Bob Parker and Maria (Fritelli) Parker.

He was very athletic in the sports of baseball, basketball, golf, football, even though he struggled with epilepsy; which he was able to control, with help, most of his active life! He attended Western Illinois College and Southern Illinois University with graduate degrees in counseling and worked for the Catholic children’s home and YWCA. Bobby was a gentle easy going soul that people enjoyed being around; he loved playing his electric guitar with his brothers, Dennis and Larry in the “Parker Brother’s Band” for which there is a memorial brick at the Miles Davis Statue downtown Alton.

He is survived by his mother Maria of Godfrey; two sons, Bobby Parker of St. Louis, MO and Chris Parker of Alton, IL; two brothers, Roy Parker and Barbie Durr of Godfrey and Larry Parker of Godfrey; one sister-in-law, Dominika Parker of Alton and several nieces and nephews.

Bobby was preceded in death by his father, Robert James Parker in 2010, and brother, Dennis Parker in 2008.

Visitation will be private.

Graveside Service, open to friends, will be at 2 pm on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey in the Good Shepard Section.

Memorials may be made for an Alton High School Athletic Scholarship.
