Robert John Young, 90, of Brighton, passed away at 10:00 am on Tues Jan 29, 2019 at home.
He was born on May 2, 1928 in Alton, IL to William & Thelma (Eppel) Young. He married Barbara (Schelm) Young on Feb 23, 1949 in Godfrey, IL who survives.
He is survived by his wife, daughter and son in law: Teresa & Danny Graves of Boise, ID, sons & daughters in laws: Brady & Terri Young of Jerseyville, Tim & Melinda Young of Godfrey, Christopher Young of Albuquerque, NM and Patrick Young of Boise, ID, 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and a sister: Thelma Arnold of Jerseyville.
He worked at Rotary Ram in Godfrey as a machinist and was the treasurer of the Knights of Columbus and a ham radio operator. He served in the US Navy during WW2
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 Sons: Michael John & Scot James Young and 2 brothers: William & Charles Young.
Visitation will be 9-10 am Sat Feb 2, 2019 at St Alphonsus Catholic Church in Brighton.
Funeral services will be at 10 am Sat Feb 2, 2019 at St Alphonsus Catholic Church in Brighton with Fr Bill Kessler officiating.
Burial will be in Brighton Cemetery with full military honors will be provided by Alton VFW Post 1308 Ritual Team.
Memorial may be made to Masses or the Brighton Betsey Ann Firefighters Fund.
