Robert J. Schwarberg, 90, passed away at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Rosewood Care enter in Alton.
Born Apr. 9, 1926 in Springfield, Ill., he was the son of Farrell Page and Anna Josephine (Hatfield) Schwarberg.
He married Norma Smith on Dec. 29, 1949. She passed away Oct. 22, 1990. He later married Rosemary Smith. She passed away in 2001.
He worked as an operator for Sinclair Oil for over 30 years, retiring in 1989. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he also was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Bunker Hill United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Debbie (Jerry) Mount of Hartford; a son, Joe (Pam) Schwarberg of Bethalto; 3 grandchildren, Kay (Bobbie) Weed of Carrollton, Adam Schwarberg of Bethalto and Brad Schwarberg of St. Peters, Mo.; and 2 great grandchildren, Tommy and Emily Forrester.
In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son Doug; and two sisters, Norma Erickson and Barb Bartolomucci.
Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 2 at Paynic Home for Funerals from 10 a.m. until services begin at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens.
