Robert Glenn

Robert J. Glenn, 96, passed into the arms of Jesus at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Staunton Health and Rehab. Center. Born July 11, 1927 in Sand Prairie Township, IL, he was the son of Chalmer and Octa Roedell (Floyd) Glenn. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and retired from McDonnell-Douglas in St. Louis, MO. Mr. Glenn was member of the Cottage Hills Baptist Church. He was a lifetime member of the Alton VFW Post 1308 and the American Legion #126. He married Shirley May Ditterline on December 19, 1958 in Alton. She preceded him in death on December 26, 1988. He then married Phyllis Williams on February 28, 1998 in Alton. She survives of Jerseyville. Also surviving is a daughter and son-in-law, Jeanette (Jerry) Mullins of Rosewood Heights, a grandson, Conner Mullins of Rosewood Heights, and step-children, Mary Walsh of Mt. Olive, and Julie (Tim) Meeks of Godfrey, step-grandchildren, Eric Walsh of Mt. Olive, Amanda (Todd) Brantley of East Alton, David (Jessica) Meeks of Wood River, Mike (Hannah) Meeks of Bethalto, and Brandon (Megan) Meeks of Godfrey, eight great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Along with his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Floyd, Harold, Donald, Richard and Melvin Glenn, and two sisters, Lillian Foote and Maybelle Glenn, and a step-son-in-law, Chuck Walsh. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 18, 2023 at the Cottage Hills Baptist Church. Pastor Daniel Sternquist will officiate. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto with full military honors. Memorials may be made to the Cottage Hills Baptist Church. Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements. Online guestbook and information may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com.
