Robert Glenn McGlasson, 83, died at 10:26 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 2018 at his home in Alton. Born November 7, 1934 in Alton, he was the son of Everett Sylvester and Nona Helen (Naylor) McGlasson. Mr. McGlasson was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Alton and retired from management at Laclede Steel. He volunteered for the Grandpa Gang and Meals on Wheels. On June 27, 1954 he married the former Shirley Ann Walter. He was preceded in death by Shirley on June 5, 2015 and a son-in-law, Patrick Strader on October 7, 2014. Surviving are one sister, Barbara Gomer of Montgomery, IL, one son, Dennis Wayne McGlasson (Beth) of Jerseyville, and three daughters, Denise Gail Strader of Overland Park, KS, Dyann Louise Clark (Rick) of Austin, TX, and Dawn Elaine Emshousen (Kurt) of Edwardsville. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren; Erin Davis (Will) of Austin, TX, Jessica Grace (Keegan) of Godfrey, Stephanie Stiverson of Barnhart, MO, Amanda Young (Heather) of Austin, TX, Meagan McGlasson of Jerseyville, Rachel McGlasson of Alton, Brad Stiverson of Ft. Carson, CO, Hannah Strader of Overland Park, KS, Connor Emshousen of Edwardsville, Eric Stiverson of Edwardsville, and Madison Emshousen of Edwardsville, and one great grandchild, Holton Davis, with whom he had recently spent time getting to know in Austin, TX. Our family is so thankful we were recently together for a family wedding and grateful dad and mom are together again. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, January 12, 2018 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 13, 2018. Father Jason Stone will officiate. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
