Robert Glendon Reed, 87, died at 5:20 a.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at V.I.P. Manor in Wood River. Born July 1, 1929 in Wright City, KS, he was the son of Roland Reed and Frieda Watson-Graham and his step-father Raymond Graham. He served in the U.S. Navy for 16 years and retired as an aeronautical information specialist for Defense Mapping Agency in St. Louis. He had also worked as an air traffic controller at one point. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Salty Dogs Motorcycle Club. On July 15, 1989 he married the former Patricia Darnell in Edwardsville. She preceded him in death on February 23, 2012. Surviving are two daughters, including Lisa Moneyhun, two sons, a step-daughter, Michelle Burger, 10 grandchildren, including Kyle J. Fleshman, seven great grandchildren and several nieces, a nephew and great nieces and nephews. Along with his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a son and daughter, a brother Ed Reed and a sister, Juanita Jouette. Visitation will be at Gent Funeral Home on Friday, September 2, 2016 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. followed by full military honors by the VFW Post 1308 Ritual Team. Burial will be private.
