Robert D. Seward, 77, passed away at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, August 10, 2009 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Breese.
He was born on November 16, 1931 in Bath, IL, the son of Arley & Beulah (Elmore) Seward.
He married Betty Jane Seward. She passed away in 2004.
Robert served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He was a millwright at Granite City Steel for over 30 years retiring in 1998. He was a member of the Wood River Moose. He loved to garden and then he would give his produce away to help those who needed it and he always took care of stray cats. He loved the Cardinals, traveling around the country and visiting festivals and most of all he loved being with his family and friends.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, David & Sandy Seward of Belleville; three grandchildren, Josh, Nick and Shane and his siblings and their spouses, Wilma Sharpe of St. Charles, MO, Barry & Pat Seward of Kansas City, MO, Mike & Debby Seward of Midland, MI and Betty & Steve Glassbrenner of Godfrey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sons, Sydney Seward and Mark Seward and one granddaughter, Wendi Seward.
