His life’s works and deeds have realized an immense impact on his family, church, friends, and those who were fortunate to have entrusted him with their pet’s health. At age 88, Dr. Brakeville of Godfrey, Illinois, with loved ones by his side, passed away at 2:06 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, in Alton Memorial Hospital.

Born on May 28, 1936, in Dow, Illinois, Robert was the son of Walter Keith and Edna Frances Brakeville. He wed his forever love, Roxanne Corbett, on September 3, 1960, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Michael, Illinois.

Robert earned a BS in Animal Nutrition and Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1962. Dr. Brakeville proudly served the community through his own veterinary practice in Godfrey, Illinois. He was also a passionate member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Alton.

In addition to Roxanne, Robert is survived by three sons: Robert (Chip) Lee (Azin) Brakeville II of San Clemente, California; Ross Joseph (Allison) Brakeville of Kennesaw, Georgia; Brian Kevin (Kristen) Brakeville of Costa Mesa, California; his daughter, Angela Lynn (Gary) McBride of Waterloo, Illinois; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by two brothers, John Dale Brakeville and Larry Joseph Brakeville, and a sister, Mary Frances Cuvar, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Margie Kincaid.
