Robert Foraker

Robert "Bob" Raymond Foraker, 86, formerly of South Roxana, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2017.

Born June 24, 1930 in Taylorville, he was the son of Raymond and Roena (Nash) Foraker.

A U.S. Marine Corps, Korean War veteran, he had worked as a field service mechanic for McDonnell-Douglas.  After retiring, he worked for the water department in the Village of South Roxana.  Bob worked hard to provide for his family and supported his community by serving as a fireman and later Fire Chief of the South Roxana Fire Protection District, as well as serving as a Troop Leader with the Boy Scouts of America.

He was a skilled craftsman and could build anything.  He enjoyed working in his garden.

On July 24, 1953, he married Gwendolyn Stanton.  She survives.

Surviving also are two sons, Ray Foraker (Tonya Brockwell) of Wood River, Bob (Karensa) Foraker of Edwardsville; three daughters, Carol Foraker of Bethalto, Patty Foraker of Flippin, AR, Dianna (Jeremy) Wilder of Taylorville; 20 grandchildren; many loved great and great-great grandchildren.

Preceding in death were his parents; and a son, George Foraker.

Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. Sunday at Marks Mortuary in Wood River where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday.

Burial will follow in Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana.
