Robert (Bob) Gene Curtis, 82, died at 2:58 p.m. Sunday, June 12, 2016 at Robings Manor in Brighton. Born January 3, 1934 in Alton, he was the son of Edwin Robert and Effie Myrtle (Marshall) Curtis. Mr. Curtis served in the Army during the Korean War. He retired as a mechanic for Gene’s Chrysler/Plymouth in 1999 after 30 years of service. On September 4, 1975 he married the former Roswitha Edith Milkoweit in Alton. She preceded him in death on November 2, 2010. Surviving are two daughters, Nancy North (Randy) of Waterman, IL, and Carol DeLapp (Greg) of Phoenix, AZ, a son, Robbie Curtis (Catherine) of Godfrey, seven grandchildren, and seven great grand children and a sister, Dolly Wahlstrom (Dale) of Alton. He is also survived by his step-children, Valery Parker (Mark), Darlene Kaid, and Bob and Ginny Kaid of Utah, 6 step grandchildren, and 10 step great grandchildren. Along with his parents and wife he was preceded in death by two brothers, Edwin and Jerry Lee Curtis. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Private graveside services will be held at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. Reverend Steve Rice will officiate. Memorials may be made to East Alton American Legion 794.
