Robert “Bob” E. Watsek, 82, passed away at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, December 21, 2018, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.
He was born August 23, 1936, in Alton, IL, the son of the late John R. & Lucille M. (Owens) Watsek. He married Bernice W. (Luebbers) Watsek on September 24, 1955 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto, she survives.
Bob serviced his country in the United States Army. He was employed at St. Louis Lambert International Airport for 32 years retiring in September, 1999. Bob was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Bethalto. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, computers, and watching his grandchildren playing various sports. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1143 and a Fourth Degree Knight in the 0225 Assembly.
Survivors include his wife; six children and their spouses, Kathy (Roy) Smith of Collinsville, Ginny (Craig) Wineinger of Bethalto, Ron (Brook) Watsek of Alton, Barb (Frank) Trost of Bethalto, Jackie (Jerry) Vollmer of Alton and Ray (Terry) Watsek of Maryville; thirteen grandchildren and their spouses, Jennifer Buckman, Katie Smith, Rob (Larissa) Smith, Brian (Erin) Watsek, Brooke (Josh) McDowell, Nick Legate (Mackenzie Wille), Megan Trost, Frankie Trost, Cameron(Peyton) Lane, Grant (Kayla) Lane, Anna Watsek, Valerie and Rachel Buckley; eleven great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by one son, Richard Watsek; one brother, John “Bud” Watsek and one sister, Janet Ward.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11 am on January 12th at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Bethalto, IL, with Father Tom Liebler officiating.
