Rita Myer

Rita Myer, 88, died at 10:54 a.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at her home. 

She was born May 29, 1937 in Alton, the daughter of the late Andrew and Anna (Wachtel) Ursch. On February 2, 1963 in Alton, she married William “Bill” David Myer, and he preceded her in death on August 22, 2024. 

Surviving are two sons, Jeff Myer (Mindy) of Alton, and Greg Myer (Mary) of Alton, two stepsons, Dave Myer (Nancy) of Bunker Hill and Steve Myer (Dot) of Godfrey.  Four grandchildren, Jordan Myer, Miranda Henson (Abram), Megan Del Grego (David) of TX and Greg Myer (Emily) of TX. Five step grandchildren, Brad Myer (Sheridan) of CO, Amanda Laux (Ben) of Bunker Hill, Crystal Myer of Iowa, Steven Myer (Jessie) of Iowa and Colby Myer (Taylor) of Iowa. Three great grandchildren, Gabriel Henson, Paisley Myer and Kinsley Myer and eight step great grandchildren, Penny Myer, Eliana Laux, Maddox Laux, Lena Laux, Everett Laux, Kaleigh Scoggins, Victoria Gammaitoni and Tristen Sale. 

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to 5A’s Animal Hospital, BJC Hospice-Alton or Oasis Women Center.
