Rita Knapton

Rita J. Knapton, 68, passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at Eunice Smith Home in Alton.She was born on August 22, 1949, in Litchfield, IL, the daughter of Albert and Margie (Bennet) Fenton.Rita married David Knapton on September 23, 1972, in Carpenter, Illinois. He survives.She was a member of Hearts Harvest Church in Bethalto. She enjoyed reading, music, spending time with her family and singing with her grandchildren.In addition to her husband, two daughters and their spouses, Juliana and Kevin Hamilton of St. Charles, Missouri, Cathy and Brian Greeling of Bunker Hill; and six grandchildren, Sara, Braedon, Brett, Emma, Zoe, and Cooper.She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Jerry Fenton.Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, September 1, 2017, at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.Funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2017, at the funeral home with Pastor Terry McKenzie officiating.Burial will follow at Worden Cemetery.Memorials may be given to The Alzheimer’s Association.Online condolences can be given at www.eliaskallalandschaaf.com.
