JERSEYVILLE-  Rita Frances Hill Shipley, 88, died at 9:30 a.m., Friday, September 9, 2011 at the Jerseyville Manor Nursing Home.She was born in Kampsville on Oct. 25, 1922 and was the only daughter of the late Elizabeth Marsching.Rita married Dorcie Hill on Feb. 13, 1943 in Bowling Green, Mo. and the two raised their family of five children in Greenfield for  a short time before relocating to Jerseyville in 1955.  A devoted Christian lady, Rita served her Lord alongside her husband, the Rev. Dorcie Hill, who founded Healing Waters Temple in Jerseyville.  The two shared 35 years together before his death on Aug. 15, 1978.Eleven years later, Rita married Francis Shipley, and during their marriage, she enjoyed fishing and aluminum can collecting.  They shared 10 happy years together before his death.Surviving are a daughter and son in law,  Louise & Richard Rupe of Godfrey; four sons & daughters in law, Allen & Dolores Hill, Deon & Linda Hill, Olin & Debbie Hill, and Roger & Debbie Hill all of Jerseyville; 10 Grandchildren and their spouses, Sharon Miller of Arkansas, David Hill of Alabama, Kathy & Ed Koethe of Jerseyville, Brenda & Shawn Bertoglio of Jerseyville, Craig Hill of Maryville,Mathew Knight of Alton, Brad & Neasha Hill of Delhi, Andrea & Shane Winters of Jerseyville, Shelly & Dan Diamond of Jerseyville, and Tim & Stephanie Hill of Ankeny, Iowa;  11 Great Grandchildren, Rita Miller, Amanda Koethe, Amber Bertoglio, Brenton & Dereck Hill, Hayden, Brooklyn & Davis Winters, Quinn & Lincoln Diamond and Taylor Hill; and two great great granddaughters.In addition to her mother and husbands, Rita was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Christy Hill, Michael Hill, and Timothy Hill.; and a son in law, James Knight.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m Monday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Assembly of God in Jerseyville, with Rev. Larry Hayes and Rev. A.D. Selby officiating.Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.Memorials may be given to the Alzheimers Association or to the First Assembly of God for their mission work, which was of special interest to Rita.
