Ricky Springman

Alton |

Ricky Stephen Springman, 74, lost his short battle with cancer at 11:50 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at his home. He was born April 9, 1949, in Alton, the son of the late Helen (Smol) Wade. Ricky served in the U.S. Navy during the Viet Nam War and was the golf course superintendent for Rock Springs Golf Course for many years. In April 1988 he married Mary (Lewis) Springman, and she survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Heather Taylor (Diane) of Lake St. Louis, MO, Jennifer Bash of Louisville, KY, one son, Anthony Springman of Alton, three grandchildren, Trinity Springman, Damian Springman and Nicholas Springman and one great grandchild, Everly Springman. A Celebration of Life will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, April 8, 2024, at Spencer T. Olin Golf Course in Alton. Family and friends are asked to attend and share memories and stories about Ricky.

Rick’s passion was golf. He was self-taught and always willing to help a fellow golfer with his swing or putt. He made many life-long friends on the golf course. He also loved to fish with his nephew, Dwayne (Karen) Springman and vacationing with his niece Gwen (Brent) Powell. He will be missed by his golf buddies, his family, friends, and his caring extended family.

Besides his mother, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Morris Wade of Alton. Instead of flowers, please make memorials to Hope Animal Rescue. Additional information and online guest book may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com.
