Richard W. Evans passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at his home, holding his wife’s hand. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary, of 67 years, his two daughters, Barbie Steps and Janie Lockhart (Steve), and his son, Joe Evans (Sara), and four granddaughters Kelly, Nikki, Michelle, and Laura.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 31, at 10:30 am at Evangelical United Church of Christ in Godfrey, Illinois with full military honors by the VFW Post 1308. Reverend Jerry MeCaskey will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Richard Evans to the “Community Supported Gardens at LaVista Farms” at 4350 Levis Lane Godfrey, Illinois 62035. Richard and Rosemary spent many afternoons volunteering at LaVista Farms; she pulled the weeds while he supervised. Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.
