Richard Orban

Richard Lee Orban, 75, died peacefully, at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at his home in Wood River. 

Born July 28, 1950 in Alton, he was the son of Jewel Richard Orban and Dorothy (Tolle) Orban. Mr. Orban served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.  He retired from Steve Ebbler Construction.

Surviving is his significant other of 32 years, Deloris Christian of Wood River, two daughters, Jennifer Morris (Dennis Morgan), Lorretta Baker (Jason), two sons, Christopher Orban (Valerie Fulks), and Jonothan Orban. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Christopher Orban, Brandon Orban, Landen Fulks, Dalton Morris, Ashley Morris, Harley Mitchell, Jason Baker, Cole Orban, and Jonathan Orban, as well as four sisters, Ruth Heil, Debbie Deathage, Kathy Bower, and Carol Belcher. 

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Patty Johnson. 

Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, September 19, 2025 at Gent Funeral Home in Alton where funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 20, 2025.  Reverend Jay Hanscom will officiate. 

Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey with full military honors. 

Memorials may be made to the 5A’s Animal Shelter or the Salvation Army.
