Richard Dean Carr, 93, passed away peacefully at 11:46 a.m., Friday, June 19, 2026 at his residence.
He was born in Jalapa, Illinois on January 23, 1933, he was one of two sons, born to the late Leo Randall and Mary Georgia Bernadine (Milner) Carr.
After attending a one room schoolhouse, he went to Kane High School before graduating in 1951 from Jersey Community High School.
For forty five years, he was a dedicated employee of Olin Corporation, where he retired in 1996 as a pipefitter.
In his younger years, Dean enjoyed boating and was known as an excellent slalom water skier. He was proud of his children and was always there to light fire batons for his twirling daughters. He made sure that all his kids had bicycles, motorcycles and cars to drive when they were old enough. Dean loved a good celebration and could really cut a rug, especially when his favorite song, "Old Time Rock and Roll' played.
As he got older, he enjoyed visiting Harman Auction and adding to his antique tool collection. He loved farm life and could always be found outside driving his tractor, golf cart or Chuckwagon around his property, tinkering or working on something.
Even though he never officially asked her on a date, he married the love of his life, Lois Crotchett, on October 9, 1953 at the Kane Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Lois Carr of Jerseyville; his five children Richard L. Carr (Debbie) of Keysville, Ga., Cynthia Borum (Karl) of St. Charles, Mo., Cheryl Darr (Kent) of Jerseyville, Lori Weishaupt (Bret Schmieder) of Jerseyville and Christy (Christopher) Whipps of Brighton; his grandchildren, Seth Carr, Josh Carr, Michael Drainer, Daniel Drainer, Renessa Drainer, Tyson Drainer, Matthew Darr, Amanda Deane, Kati Long, Levi Weishaupt, Braden Whipps, Tanner Whipps, and Jaron Whipps, along with fourteen great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday. His son in-law, Kent Darr, and grandsons, Matthew Darr and Daniel Drainer will officiate.
