Richard Temple

Richard C. “Dick” Temple, 83, passed away and went to be with the Lord at 8:59am on Thursday, July 28, 2016, in the emergency room at Alton Memorial Hospital.  He was born on July 27, 1933, in Alton, the son of the late Lee and Elzada (Reifschneider) Temple.  He married the former Charlene Bockholdt on October 24, 1980, in Wood River, and she survives.  Other survivors include three sons and two daughters in law: Barry and Judy Temple of Las Vegas, Nevada, Brian and Melissa Temple of Lakewood, Colorado, Byford St. Clair of Alton, seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and one brother and sister in law: Donald and Carol Temple of Arizona.

Dick was formerly employed in the metallurgical lab at Olin for 18 years prior to his retirement.  He attended Emmanuel Free Methodist Church in Alton.  He was a member of the Franklin Masonic Lodge No. 25 A.F. & A.M. in Alton for over 50 years.  He was a member of the Alton VFW Post 1308.  He also sang in the barbershop quartet. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son: Sammy St. Clair.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded.  In celebration of his life, memorial visitation will be from 2pm until time of memorial services at 4pm on Sunday, July 31, 2016, at Emmanuel Free Methodist Church in Alton.  Rev. Mark Scandrett will officiate. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family.
