Richard Brier

Richard DeLancey Brier, Jr., 77, passed away on February 12, 2026, from pancreatic cancer at home surrounded by loved ones.

Richard is survived by his wife, Rita Brier; son, Matthew (Heather); stepson, Rick Newlin (Beth); stepdaughter, Roni Montgomery (David); grandchildren, Kelsey, Dylan, Colin; brother-in-law, Greg Baker (Sherry); sister-in-law, Paula and Linda; nephew, Bill Brier Jr. (Michelle); and a niece, Cathy Darr.

Richard was preceded in death by his first wife, Ramona Brier, father, Richard DeLancey Brier, Sr.; mother, Lucy Ellstrom; step-father, Don Ellstrom; and two brothers, William (Bill) Brier and Walter (Wally) Brier.

Richard enjoyed traveling, softball, square dancing with Double H, old TV shows, science fiction, music, playing games, bowling, the Senior Games, and spending time with friends and family. He was faithfully devoted to God and worshipped with Wesley Chapel.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey, IL.

Burial will take place at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey, IL.
