Richard “Dick” Klaffer, 63, passed away on September 30, 2016 at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Alton.
He was born on October 22, 1952 in Alton, IL the son of the late Andy E. and Esther E. (Gound) Klaffer.
He married Betty Ann Johnson in Alton on June 6, 1981
He owned Bill and Joe’s Towing in East Alton where he drove a tow truck for many years. He was a Veteran of the Navy having served during Vietnam.
In Addition to his Spouse, Betty, he is survived by two step sons Bobby (Becky) Gerber of Hardin, IL and Gary (Shelly) Gerber of Brighton, IL; a step daughter Michele Gerber of Alton; 10 grandchildren; three nieces Kimberly (Chuck) Fry of Mulberry Grove, Shone (Judy) Fry of Litchfield, Roxanna (Chuck) Johnson of Wood River; a nephew Tracy (Kami) Fry of Eldon, MO.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother and sister in law Gordon K. and Cary L. Fry; a niece Toni P. Fry-Hilgert.
Visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm Tuesday October 4, 2016 at Elias, Kallal & Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton.
Funeral service will be at 10 am Wednesday October 5, 2016 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton with Rev. Steve Barrett officiating.
Burial will follow at Scenic Hills Cemetery in Grafton, IL.
