Rex Allen Book Sr, 87, of Bunker Hill, IL, passed away peacefully at Jerseyville Manor Memory Care, Jerseyville, IL, on June 15th, 2026 at 3:30pm.
Rex was born on September 13, 1938 in Murrayville, IL to George and Elsie (Ambrose) Book.
A year after high school graduation from East Alton/Wood River, Rex enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1958, where he served until being Honorably discharged in 1962.
He was a Boy Scouts of America leader, a Bunker Hill volunteer firefighter as well as a member of the First Congregational Church in Bunker Hill for many years. He enjoyed many years of hunting and fishing with friends and relatives.
Rex is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marian Kay (Dunn) Book & his two children, R. Allen & Toni (Tague) Book of Bethalto, IL & Lisa Kay and John Cuoppolo of Toronto Canada.
Rex was blessed with 5 grandchildren: Ashley (Draper) & Jason Dougherty, Jacob & Rachael (Varland) Book, Maggie Book & Alex Capers, Christopher Cuoppolo, Mark & Samantha (Borisko) Cuoppolo and 6 great grandchildren: Wyatt, Willow, Wrenley, Adrial, Caleb & Cecilia.
Friends may call on Saturday, July 11th, from 1 - 4 at Kravanya Funeral Home in Bunker Hill, IL for a celebration of Rex’s life. Per Rex’s wishes he will be cremated.
