Rev. Kenneth H. DeWall, 92, of Bethalto, passed away on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at 7:45 pm, at Rosewood Care Center in Alton.
He was born August 7, 1926, in Shannon, IL, the son of Arthur and Esther (Hinders) DeWall. He married Faye J. Preston on June 2, 1951 in Dubuque, IA.
He proudly served in the United States Navy. Rev DeWall was a minister at the Bethalto Presbyterian Church in Bethalto for over 30 years, and also at Elm Street Presbyterian Church in Alton. He was a past member of Bethalto Rotary Club and a member of Toastmasters for many years. He was a Civil War buff and enjoyed bird watching, traveling, talking about theology and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Faye; five children and their spouses, Steven (Yvonne) DeWall of Bethalto, Barbara (Peter) Feliz of New York City, Karen Furlow of Belleville, Timothy (Sylvia) DeWall of Colorado and Dave (Sandy) DeWall of Moro; one sister-in-law, Connie DeWall of FL; 13 grandchildren, Robert (Erin) DeWall, Christopher DeWall, Victoria Feliz, Jessica (Steve) Canfield, Melissa (Stephen) Checksfield, Josh (Alicia) Furlow, Allison Furlow, Brett (Kelli) Furlow, Zach DeWall, Josh Wagner, Larisa Smith, Kara DeWall and Alex DeWall; 8 great grandchildren, Harper, Sophia, Victoria, Austin, Penelope, Logan, Shilah and Alexa; and one brother and sister-in-law, Loren & Mary Lou DeWall of FL
Preceded in death by his parents, his son, Kevin DeWall and brother, Vernon DeWall.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, December 28, 2018, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto.
Funeral service at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto with Pastor Jerry Wray will officiate. Burial will follow at Moro Presbyterian Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Bethalto Presbyterian Church in Bethalto.
