Rev. Alta H. Vaughn

Rev. Alta H. Vaughn, 86, passed away at 8:22 pm on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at her home.

She was born on October 8, 1931, in Alton, Illinois, the daughter of Albert Hazzard.

Alta married Rev. James Vaughn in Bethalto. He preceded her in death on April 15, 1995.

Alta was a corporate secretary for Wegeman Electric.  She was a pastor at Meadowbrook Assembly of God since 1995.

Survivors include 2 children: Betty J. Vaughn and Agnes Ferguson both of Bethalto; special friends: Wilma Butler of Bethalto, Janet (Lee) Friedel of Bethalto, Rich Friedel and family, Sean Butler and family, and brother-in-law William Hibbs of Bethalto.

In addition to her father and husband, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Lil Hazzard; a son-in-law Roy Ferguson and sister Alice Hibbs; step-son James A. Vaughn, Jr; step-daughter Martha (Fred) Emshousen and Rev. Sophia (Bob) Covington.

Visitation will be 4pm to 8pm on Friday, December 22, 2017 at Meadowbrook Assembly of God where funeral services will be held at 10am on Saturday, December 23, 2017 with Pastor Phil Schneider officiating.

Memorials may be made to Meadowbrook First Assembly of God Church.
