Rebecca Hlavsa

Rebecca Hellrung Hlavsa, age 73, of Port Charlotte, Florida formerly Edwardsville died January 9, 2018, from injuries received in an automobile accident in Port Charlotte. Becky was a retired Senior Supply Support Analyst at McDonnel Douglas Aircraft Company in St. Louis from 1964-96 and a Boeing Contract worker in 1997. She was born January 21, 1944 in Alton, Illinois the daughter of the late Bartholomew & Margaret (Frisse) Hellrung. She married Joseph James Hlavsa on October 22, 1966 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Edwardsville. He preceded her in death on September 22, 2010. Becky is survived by 2 brothers, Robert Hellrung of Hamel, William Hellrung of Los Angeles, California; 3 sisters, Elizabeth “Betty” Franke of Edwardsville, Bonnie Hurley and Brenda Lange both of North Carolina; Sisters-in-law, Marilyn Shapiro of North Carolina, Darlene Wessel & husband Don and Karen Hlavsa all of Edwardsville; and many nieces & nephews whom she loved dearly, and all her friends at Holiday Lake Village. She was preceded in death by three brothers-in-law, Roy Franke, Richard Hurley, and Robert Hlavsa. Becky was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, a charter member of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Alumni, and a member of SAGES Retirement Club in Port Charlotte. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be given to masses, Hospice of Southern Illinois, or the Metro East Humane Society.
