Raymond V. Wallace

Raymond V. Wallace, 86, of Fidelity, died at 10:30 P.M. on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at his home.  He was born in Grafton, Illinois on October 1, 1929 to the late Raymond E. & Lena (Allen) Wallace.

He grew up on a farm in Grafton and attended schools in Jersey County, graduating from Jerseyville High School

He married Wanda L. (Cunningham) Wallace on October 30, 1956 in Jerseyville, Illinois.  She died May 11, 2003.

Raymond first worked for Sears Roebuck in Alton until the store closed.  He then worked as a mechanic for C&W (Noble) John Deere for 30 years.  In addition, Raymond served his community as a Fidelity Board Member, Mayor and Town Marshall.  He served in the United States Army serving in Japan and Korea, where he was wounded in Kumwea, South Korea.

Raymond was a member of the Jerseyville American Legion Post 492. 


Survivors include 4 daughters; Valda Jennings of Jerseyville, Rose Pruitt of Jerseyville, Kay Roberta White of Godfrey, Patti Wallace of Fidelity, 4 sons and daughter in law; Randy Wallace of Alton, Billy Joe Wallace of Medora, Dennis Wallace of Fidelity, Butch Wallace of Jerseyville,  Dale & Patty Wallace of Jerseyville, 17 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, 1 daughter in law; Cheryl Wallace of Godfrey, 1 brother in law; Keith Ridenour of Godfrey, 1 brother & sister in law; Vernon & Betty Wallace of Alton

Preceded in death by his wife, parents, 1 sister; Vivian Ridenour, 1 son in law; Ralph Jennings, 1 grandson; Scott Johnson, 1 great grandson; William Wallace, 1 great granddaughter; Nikki Jennings
Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, February 5, 2106 at Targhetta & Wooldridge Funeral Home in Brighton

Funeral Service will take place at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at Targhetta & Wooldridge Funeral Home in Brighton

Burial will be at Maple Lawn Cemetery

Memorials may be made to the VITAS Hospice.
