Raymond L. Trebing Jr., age 87, of Glen Carbon, IL entered eternal rest on Saturday, August 30, 2025 surrounded by family members.
Raymond was born and raised in Glen Carbon on August 13, 1938, the son of the late Raymond L. Trebing Sr. and Georgeina O. (Williams) Trebing both of Glen Carbon.
Raymond married Janet H. (Deichmann) Trebing on September 13, 1967 in Belleville IL.
Besides his beloved wife of 57 years, Raymond is survived by a son, Raymond L. Trebing III of Glen Carbon and daughter Jennifer J. (Chris) Scheibal of Bentonville, AR; along with two grandchildren Ashley and Christopher Scheibal.
Raymond graduated from Edwardsville High School in 1956 and immediately joined the United States Air Force where he proudly served his country for 6 years. In 1962, upon being honorably discharged from the Air Force, Raymond began his 30-year long career for Illinois Bell / SW Bell / AT&T as a Field Line Technician and Customer Call Manager.
Raymond was a member of the Glen Carbon VFW Post 2222 and also served a time with the Glen Carbon Volunteer Fire Department. He received his pilot’s license and loved to fly Cessna airplanes during his free time in his early years.
He enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing especially trot-line fishing for catfish. The latter was one of his greatest joys in life. He also loved to attend trap shooting competitions with his friends and spending time at the family property in the secluded countryside. While there he just enjoyed life making the property surroundings more beautiful.
Friends may visit from 5 PM to 8 PM on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at the Irwin Chapel Funeral Home, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon, IL.
Funeral services and sermon will be held at the funeral home beginning at 10 AM Thursday September 4 with Pastor Penny Barber presiding. Public burial service will be held immediately following for all who wish to attend at the Glen Carbon City Cemetery.
