Raymond Harry "Bud" Galloway

Bud was with the Alton Police Department for 25 years retiring as a detective sgt. in 1986. He then became a chief deputy with the Madison Co. Sheriff Department from 1986 until retiring in 2000. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Lodge # 254, the Greater St. Louis Major Case Squad for over 30 years and received the 1st annual Law Enforcement Award on December 18, 1973. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, working part time at Rolling Hills golf course in Godfrey and spending time with family, friends and especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, J. he is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Tracy Galloway of Alton and Kristen & Bob Barnhart of Alton; two grandchildren, Abbi and Alex Barnhart; one sister Pat Rodgers of Dayton, OH and a brother-in-law, Jack Delaney of Alton; two sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law, Shirley & Guido Tovo of East Alton; Paul Mearsch of Alton, and Gloria Mearsch of La Mirada, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Joan Delaney.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 pm on Monday, January 11, 2010 at Staten-Fine Funeral Home in Alton, with a 3 pm prayer service. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton at 10 am on Tuesday, January 12, 2010. Burial will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Godfrey.
