Raymond Edward Curtner, Sr.,77, passed away at 2:15 p.m. Sunday, September 3, 2017 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
He was born Sept. 7, 1939 in East St. Louis, IL.
Ray was married to Carolyn Joyce (Cholevik) Curtner. They enjoyed a wonderful marriage of 56 years.
He was a member of Knights of Columbus, 4th degree. He was also a loyal member of Operating Engineers Local 520 for 50 years. He was also a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto. He enjoyed his children and grandchildren, and was a hard-working family man. He was also proud to be an organ and tissue donor.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn of Rosewood Heights; four sons, Jeffrey Raymond Curtner of O’Fallon, MO, Ronald Alan Curtner and his wife Sheila Kay (Jones) Curtner of Carrollton, IL, Raymond Edward Curtner, Jr. of Wood River, and Steven Michael Curtner of Ballwin, MO; grandchildren, Ryan Michael Curtner of Bethalto, Christeena Nichole Curtner of St. Louis, MO, Christian Steven Curtner of Carrollton, Emma Rose Curtner of Alton, and Nikolle Marti of Highland, IL; brother, John Terry Curtner and his wife Bonnie (Hawkins) Curtner of Fosterburg, sister Dode (Curtner) Kaiser of New Athens, IL, and brother Michael Leonard Curtner and his wife Trish of Steelville, IL.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Henry Boehmer, stepfather John Curtner, Mother Fernetta (Kimme) Curtner, and sister, Rosemary Kathleen Curtner.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 8 at Paynic Home for Funerals. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto.
