Raymond J. DeConcini, 88, of Glen Carbon, Illinois, passed away peacefully at 11:01 a.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville. He was born on December 19, 1937, in Glen Carbon, a son of the late Raymond A. and Edith (Bontempo) DeConcini.
Ray devoted many years of hard work and dedication as a laborer with Glen Carbon Labor Local #474, from which he proudly retired. A graduate of Edwardsville High School, he later honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Ray embraced life with enthusiasm and joy. He especially enjoyed attending the horse races at Fairmont Park, following all types of sports, and fondly reminiscing about his days fishing, bowling, playing golf and softball. Known for his infectious smile and uplifting spirit, Ray had a natural gift for bringing happiness to others and often delighted friends and family by breaking into song.
He is survived by his son, Eric DeConcini of St. Louis; his daughter, Edie (Rick) Brazzle of St. Louis; two grandchildren, Mia Brazzle and Roman Brazzle; his former wife and the mother of his children, Pat; six siblings, Sharon Massman of Granite City, Marie DeConcini of Granite City, Linda (John) Tayon of Missouri, William DeConcini of Glen Carbon, Pamela DeConcini of Collinsville, and Jerry (Rose Munzert) DeConcini of Glen Carbon; a sister-in-law, Shirley DeConcini of St. Louis; many beloved nieces and nephews; and numerous extended family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry G. DeConcini Sr. and Kent DeConcini.
In celebration of his life, visitation will be held at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Road in Glen Carbon, on Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 noon, with Reverend Sharon Autenrieth officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Glen Carbon City Cemetery.
