Ralph Wilson

Ralph F. Wilson, 77, of Jerseyville, died unexpectedly at 12:05 p.m. Sunday, January 12, 2020 at his residence.He was born on October 5, 1942 in Jersey County, and was one of four children born to Charles Edgar and Ova (Summers) Wilson.A lifelong Jersey County resident, Ralph graduated from Jersey Community High School, and later served his country with the United States Air Force.For many years, he was employed at the Owens-Illinois Glass in Alton, until the plant closure.   He then went on to work at Wal-Mart in Jerseyville, and later as a security guard at the Argosy Casino in Alton.He married the former Carolyn Cope on June 26, 1965 at the First Christian Church in Jerseyville, and together they have been blessed with 54 years of marriage and a family that would grow to consist of two children and two granddaughters.Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Wilson of Jerseyville; a son, Stephen Wilson of Fieldon; a daughter and son in-law, Susan and Joey Sievers of Fieldon; two granddaughters, Stevie Wilson and SoarrinaSievers; two brothers and sisters in-law, Mike and Connie Wilson of Fieldon and Joe and Chris Wilson of Jerseyville; and a sister, Judy Wilson of Swansea.Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday.  Rev. Bo Schultz will officiate.He will be laid to rest in the Grimes-Neeley Cemetery in Jerseyville, with the Jerseyville American Legion Post 492 conducting military graveside rites.Memorials may be given to his family in care of the funeral home.Memories may be shared at crawfordfunerals.com.
