Ralph Dettmer, Sr., 77, passed away at 7:31pm on Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at Alton Memorial Hospital. He was born on February 16, 1940, in Alton, the son of Berniece (Vinyard) Dettmer of Fresno, California and the late Henry “Hank” and Bernandine (Allen) Dettmer. Survivors include one daughter: Robin Neuhaus of South Roxana, two sons and daughters in law: Ralph and Kelly Dettmer, Jr. of Baltimore, Maryland, John and Tracy Dettmer of Baltimore, Maryland, ten grandchildren, one great grandchild, two sisters: Jane of Granite City, and Pat of California.
Ralph was formerly employed at Granite City Steel as a hod carrier prior to his retirement in 1997.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Johnny, Mike, and Ben.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. No services are planned.
