Phyllis Rochelle (Shaw) Herrington, 77, died at 11:39 p.m., Thursday, September 12, 2013 at the Hillsboro Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Hillsboro, Il.

She was born a leap year baby in Dow, Il. on Feb. 29, 1936, the daughter of the late Omer Esto & Vesta (Hawkins) Shaw.

She first married Darrell Peters and were together for eight years and were blessed with  their three children before their eventual divorce.  She later married Arnold Herrington on Aug. 4, 1972 in Edwardsville.  They shared 28 years together before his death on Sept. 5, 2000.

During her marriage to Arnold they resided in Oklahoma, where she managed the Honey Creek Resort & Hotel in Grove, Ok., and relocted in 1995 to the Sorento, Il. area.

Surviving are two daughters & a son in law, Linda & Bob West of Jonesboro, Arkansas and Marlena Russum of Sorento; a son, Darrell "Dean" Peters Jr .of Sedalia, Mo.; four stepchildren & their spouses, Arnold Herrington Jr and Mike Herrington , Connie & Dave Eickoff  all of Kansas, and Luke & Tammy Herrington of Wister, Ok.; 10 Grandchildren; one step granddaughter, six great grandchildren; a brother & sister in law, David & Mary Shaw of Brighton; three sisters & brothers in law, Darlene Faye and George Allen of Cottage Hills, Loretta Price of Hillsboro, and Helen Reese of Denton, Tx.; and a sister in law, Doris Shaw of Greenville

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two step children, Chris Herrington and Mark Herrington; five brothers, Omer, Floyd, Kenneth, Willam, and Roscoe Shaw, and an infant brother, Elmer Dale Shaw.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Monday until time of funeral services at 3 p.m., at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.  Rev. Perry Bissmore will officiate.

Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Jerseyville.

In honor of her love of the St. Louis Cardinals, memorial gifts may be given to Cardinal Care in care of the funeral home.
