Phyllis M. Joehl, 89, passed away at 1:41 am Saturday February 20, 2016 at home with her family by her side while under the care of BJC Hospice
She was born on September 24, 1926 in Quincy, IL the daughter of George & Florence (Freese) Pfeifer.
Phyllis married Edward Joehl on October 15, 1949 at St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church in Quincy. He survives.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton, volunteered at St. Anthony’s Health Center in Alton and a member of St. Ann Altar Society. She was a former member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church in Quincy, attended St. Francis Grade School and Notre Dame Catholic High School in Quincy and attended Gem City Business College in Quincy. She loved needle pointing, crewel work, reading and crossword puzzles.
Phyllis is survived by her husband, Edward; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon & Robert “Bob” Jourdain of Alton; two granddaughters and their husbands, Ellen & Mark Miller of Westlake Village, CA and Kate & Barry Schranck of Alton; one great grandson, Bradley Miller of Westlake Village, CA; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Arlene Koch of Quincy, Marilyn & Donald Twedell of Jacksonville, FL, and Georgeanne Florence & Jim Odorizzi of Lake Forest, IL; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 9 am to 10:30 am Tuesday February 23, 2016 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am Tuesday February 23, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alton with Fr. John Paul Klein OMV celebrant.
Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Alton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Masses at St. Mary’s Catholic Church or Marquette Catholic High School.
