Phyllis Colleen (Bagley) Depper, 93, passed away Thursday, November 7, 2024 at 2:55 a.m. at Alton Memorial Rehabilitation and Therapy (Eunice Smith Nursing Home). She was born July 6, 1931 in Lebanon, Indiana, the daughter of Ned Cole and Florence Irma (Beasley) Bagley.
She and her family moved to Jerseyville, IL where she attended Jersey High School through her Sophomore year. Her family then moved to Alton for her Junior and Senior year at Alton High where she graduated in 1948.
She married George Lester Depper in Alton, June 10, 1951. He preceded her in death on October 2, 1999.
She retired from the Alton School District as a cafeteria worker.
She is survived by her three sons and their wives, George Dennis (Susan Brunaugh) Depper, Kenneth Eugene (Joyce Tharp) Depper and Rodney Cole (Karen Thomae) Depper.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren, George Darren Allen (Benita Elias) Depper, Mckinney, TX , Harold Christopher (Deanna Briggs) Depper, Edwardsville, IL, Stephanie Renee’ (Depper) Chapman (Justin), Alton, IL, Matthew Depper and Nathan Depper both of Alton, IL, Cristen (Depper) Easton (Christopher) of Bethlehem PA, Michelle (Depper) Steele (Damon), Alton, IL, and Alex Depper, Alton, IL.
Fifteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews including Sharron Depper, Nadene Harlan, Penny Cress, Jennifer Sales and Debbie Kopsie-Arnold plus several great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandson, Daniel Depper, brothers Jack and Joe Bagley and special niece, Nancy Christian.
Per her wishes she is to be cremated. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of memorial service at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 14, 2024 at Grace United Methodist Church, 702 Henry Street, Alton, IL. Reverend Alan Abert will officiate. Interment to follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey, IL at which time her ashes will be combined with her husbands for burial.
Memorials are Grace United Methodist Church and/or the Alton Salvation Army.
