Phillip Breden

Godfrey |

Phillip George Breden, 62, died unexpectedly at 1:23 p.m., Sunday, July 1, 2018 at his residence.

He was born on March 28, 1956 in Jerseyville, one of four children born to the late Norman L. and Mary Alice “Corky” (Brown) Breden.

He grew up in Jerseyville, graduating with the class of 1974 from Jersey Community High School and went on to attend Eastern Illinois University and Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville.

Phil resided in many communities throughout his life, but held strong to his roots in Jerseyville and always considered it to be “home”.

His outgoing personality garnered him both many lasting friendships throughout the years as well as success in his career in the personal finance sector.

His career began with insurance sales at Country Companies. He then began his long and proud career owning and operating his own company, Breden Financial Group, where he specialized in personal asset management and retirement planning throughout the metro area with offices in Jerseyville and St. Louis, MO for the past 40 years.

Phil was an avid sports fan and enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether it be fishing, camping, working with his tomato plants or walking alongside the river trails, which he enjoyed daily.

Perhaps one of his strongest passions, aside from his work, was music and playing his guitar.

Surviving are two sons and daughters in-law, Ian and Sabrina Breden of Edwardsville; Will and Carrie Breden of Jerseyville; a daughter, Jessica Breden and her fiancé, Ryan Goodman of Troy, MO; three grandchildren, Tristin, Liam and Kieren Breden; his “granddog”, Bo; two sisters, Sylvia Decker of Jerseyville and Janet Isringhausen of Hardin; a brother, Greg Breden of Jerseyville; as well as a dear friend, Laurie Hiler of Des Peres, MO.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister in-law, Shirley (Woelfel) Breden.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until time of funeral services at 7 p.m., Friday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville.

In lieu of flowers or plants, memorials may be given to the Family in care of the funeral home.
