Phillip Fowler

Brighton |

Phillip Jeremy Fowler, 45, of Ottawa, IL, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 18, 2023, at OSF Health Center in Alton, IL.

He was born on August 7, 1978, in Alton, IL, the son of Kathy Nodine and James E. Fowler.

Jeremy married Kristi Hunt on June 14, 1997, in Alton, IL.

He served our country in the United States Marine Corps. Jeremy attended Lewis and Clark for business. He was the Harbormaster at Heritage Harbor Marina in Ottawa, IL. Because of him, Heritage Harbor Ottawa was Elite Fleet status for four of the last five years (excluding 2020 for COVID). He was famously known up and down the river system by AGLCA Loopers and other marinas alike for his vast knowledge of the river system and willingness to lend a hand. Jeremy was a professional man with a goofy, geeky side only a select few got to meet. Jeremy was a loving and devoted son, husband, and father, as well as a mentor to anybody who welcomed his knowledge.

He was a jack of all trades, with many certifications and licenses, including an electrician’s license, captain’s license, Certified Marina Management certification, he was also on the Ottawa Flood Commission. He loved to tinker with anything that could teach him something, when he ran out of things to tinker with, he loved reading a good book. He was an animal lover of all kinds, but especially to his pups, Piper and Pixie. Jeremy knew no enemies, people who were lucky enough to meet him, consistently stated they were better for knowing him. He was a man with a big heart who only wanted to help others. His passing has left a large hole in the world.

Jeremy is survived by his wife, Kristi; parents Kathy and James; three children Alex (Abbie) Fowler of Shipman, Jacob Fowler of Earlville, IL, and nephew who he raised as a son, David (Stephanie) Wells of Cheyenne, WY; grandmother Joyce McCombs; Brother James (Jessica) Fowler; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his brother Jason Fowler; grandfather Loren Nodine; uncle Larry Nodine; step father Keith Stecher.
