Pete Georgevits
Alton | Save
Pete Georgevits, Jr. of Alton, IL born August 27, 1928, passed away on Friday August 1, 2025 at LaBella in Alton after a battle with lung cancer. Pete was the son of the late Pete and Ina (Davenport) Georgevits. His one sister, Rose Oberlander, preceded him in death. He leaves behind numerous cousins on both the Georgevits/Georgewitz and Davenport lineage and numerous friends. He loved his family and friends.
Pete was a machinist and an inspector at McDonnell Douglas. He retired from McDonnell Douglas after 29 years of service. He was very proud of the multiple “machined” parts that he made for the Space Shuttle. He was recognized for those efforts.
Pete loved watching Jeopardy, doing cross word puzzles, and watching his favorite baseball team, the “Chicago Cubs”. He enjoyed his travels across the Western United States. Pete loved to study the lineage on both sides of his family. He was quick to share all his research with the members of the family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Ina (Davenport) Georgevits and his sister, Rose Oberlander.
Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded by Gent Funeral Home in Alton, IL. Visitation will be held at Gent Funeral Home, on Saturday, August 9, 2025, starting at Noon. Service will follow at 2:00pm.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice in memory of Pete. Additional information and online guestbook may be found at www.gentfuneralhome.com.
